Using gypsum as fertilizer has the following advantages:
(1) Good source of calcium and sulfur, solubility is 150 times of limestone.
(2) Will not destroy the balance of the soil PH value. Gypsum is a neutral material; PH value is at about 7.0. Limestone is alkaline substance and increase the soil PH value, but is not conductive to the plant in partial acid soil.
(3) Will not change chemical composition of plant nutrients. Adding limestone caused the increase of soil PH value and changes the chemical properties of plant nutrients. Sometimes, the affected nutrients turned into insoluble and not absorbed by plants. So, even if there are enough plants nutrients in the soil, the plants can not absorb it in alkaline conditions.
(4) Contribute to loose ¡°hard¡± clay soil and repair salt damage. Improve soil structure, reduce the surface crusting and increase the permeability of air and water.
